Since we stayed in September it wasn’t too bad, but we’re not sure how well we would do if it was in the middle of the summer. We probably would have been a little more well-rested if the beds were more comfortable or if we had air conditioning but we understand that AC is not provided in most rentals at Yosemite. It’s a little outdated, but the necessities were there. It was the perfect place for a group and we were within the park, close to the hiking trails.
Overall, our stay at this Airbnb was great. Just something to think about especially if you are staying during the high season. There clearly was nowhere else to park unless we wanted to block other cars. A-Frame near Yosemite + Bass lake Oakhurst, CA. Luckily, one of our friends happened to have a smaller vehicle and moved his car to a smaller spot so that we could park in his spot. We rented a van and couldn’t find a spot wide enough to fit our vehicle. One night when we arrived home from dinner, there was absolutely nowhere to park. Other than the entrance fee, you don't need a reservation or permit to visit Yosemite.
We want to build from the lessons learned from the last three summer of managed access. We are currently developing the Visitor Access Management Plan in order to design an approach that provides a great visitor experience while protecting Yosemite's natural and cultural resources. Yosemite has been grappling with congestion-even gridlock-for decades. They were also required for three weekends in February 2023 to help manage crowding and associated impacts during the Horsetail Fall event. Reservations were required in the summers of 20 due to the pandemic and in summer 2022 when numerous key visitor attractions were closed for critical infrastructure repairs.
Reservations will not be required to visit Yosemite National Park for the rest of 2023.
